Antibody Not Detected ............. <0.9 Equivocal ............. 0.9-1.0 Antibody detected ............. >=1.1 Submission of a second specimen 3-4 weeks after initial equivocal finding is recommended if clinically warranted. The Herpes Type Specific assay utilizes type-specific HSV-1 and HSV-2 antigens to detect type-specific IgG antibodies. Detection of IgG to both HSV-1 and HSV-2 in a single specimen therefore indicates dual infection by HSV-1 and HSV-2. In-house validation studies reveal a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 98% for both HSV-1 and HSV-2 IgG ELISA when compared to Western blot. <0.9 AI
