Special Instructions

  • Serum: Collect sample in Red Top Tube Plain Plasma: Collect sample in Green Top Tube (Sodium Heparin) Promptly centrifuge and separate Serum or Plasma into a chilled plastic screw capped vial. Freeze immediately, must be received at the lab Frozen. Refrigerated or Room Temp will be rejected. Plasma is only acceptable from a Green Top, any other plasma will be rejected. Recommended that patients refrain from taking excessive amounts of Vitamin C or Vitamin C rich foods for at least 48 hours prior to the collection since Ascorbic Acid at high concentration can interfere.
